I had a lot of fun making this one. As it turns out, 1982 was a pretty great year for music. This is a punk and hardcore compilation almost exclusively, with just a dash of post-punk tossed in for good measure. No hard rock or soul this time around. I suspect some listeners will be pleased about that fact, and that's just fine since the year virtually necessitated it. A good year for fast and loud. Dig it.
Also, if you haven't already, make sure you "like" the brand spanking new BM facebook page. I'll be posting previews of selected tracks from the compilations there, as well as other fun music stuff that may or may not be specifically related to the blog. Simply put, if you like the blog, you'll like the facebook page.

Yes! I was away for a while and have only now started catching up on your compilations. As always, it's a welcome mix of the familiar and the new. Bad Religion's 80-85 album got me through freshman year of high school and the Replacements helped with college, haha. The Hates and Nicki Sudden tracks were probably the best of the new songs. Cool groove on "Back to the Coast"!
ReplyDeleteHave you come across Henry Rollins' Fanatic! books? He played a lot of Fall tracks on his radio show. I'm on the fence with them. What Fall albums would you recommend for a newbie?
Thanks! This is the first I'm hearing about the Fanatic books but they sound right up my alley. I'll have to pick one up now.
DeleteAs for the Fall, to be honest I'm kind of on the fence about them as well. Hex Enduction Hour might be the best place to start but generally speaking I find them to be the kind of band that has a good deal of great songs throughout their discography but their albums as a whole are hit or miss. I'm sure some would argue that with me though, I know there are some diehard Fall fans out there.
