Cinecyde - I Left My Heart In Detroit City (1982)

An absolute unheralded classic. There aren't a whole lot of records like this, especially from 1982. Sounds like the Dickies if the Dickies were from Detroit instead of LA. Gary Reichel's vocals in particular could pass for Leonard Graves Phillips' on first listen, but on closer inspection you'll find they're significantly less cartoonish. It's a glimpse of a time when the classic motor city sound of the MC5 and the Stooges was butting up against emerging eighties hardcore. Not that I would know any of that first hand, I was a year old. Still, it's a perfect album. Shove it in your ear holes.
