The Proletariat - Voodoo Economics And Other American Tragedies (1982-1985)

The Proletariat were in a league of their own in the early eighties Boston hardcore scene. Their unique brand of angular post punk, heavily inspired by Gang Of Four (although they took a decidedly harder-edge approach), set them apart from their peers, and these recordings document a band well ahead of their time. Included in this double disc set are the 1982 Distortion cassette, the 1983 Soma Holiday LP, and the 1985 Indifference LP and Marketplace single, as well as unreleased and compilation tracks.

  1. Yes, kind of like GO4, but less dancey.

  2. Got to thinking about these guys tonight and am grateful to have found this collection here, as well as a lot of other great music. It's good to see there are some quality blogs still kicking after all the shake-ups.

  3. Thanks! They'll get around to shutting me down eventually, I'm sure. Just a matter of time until they go after Mediafire. I'll just sprout again though.
