Tom Verlaine wasn't the only ex-Television member to release a solo debut in 1979. Lloyd's contribution is less like his former band, but it's hardly worth complaining about. The guitar work does occasionally recall his genre-bending work on Marquee Moon and Adventure. In contrast, however, the material presented on Alchemy is an excellently crafted collection of traditional-styled pop. Again, Fred Smith is on bass duties.
