The Clash - From Here To Eternity: Live (1978-1982)

First of all, let me just go ahead and make special note of the fact that this album is kind of a load of bullshit. Someone at Epic Records got the bright idea to cut together songs from a wide variety of Clash performances and smash them all together to create a single record. The result is a manufactured concert that never occurred, and at the end of the day this sort of studio trickery leaves me cold. After all, wouldn't a series of actual live albums make more sense? All that aside though, it's still The Clash, and The Clash could rarely, if ever, do wrong. I might have complaints about how the songs are presented, but when we get right down to it, From Here To Eternity still manages to showcase the band at their best. I might bitch and moan about it, but I still play the shit out of this disc.

  1. It might have been intended to just be a live compilation. Putting the dates in the title suggests that, at least. What did you think of the "Live at Shea Stadium" LP a few years back?

    1. I understand that, but why put in the fake audience noise between songs? It just always struck me as disingenuous. Like I said, still a great album though at the end of the day. I actually haven't heard the Shea Stadium disc yet.
