The Sonics - Psycho-Sonic (1964-1965)

As far as I'm concerned, you can trace the roots of punk rock straight back to The Sonics. They played with a fevered energy, recklessly smashing through covers and originals alike. Gerry Roslie must have sounded like a mental patient at the time; his voice akin to some kind of deranged James Brown. What's not to love? Psycho-Sonic generously offers up everything The Sonics recorded for Etiquette Records between 1964 and 1965. Twenty-nine songs and over an hour of proto-garage punk madness.
