Samhain were, for me, the missing link between the Misfits B-movie inspired horror punk and Danzig's goth-tinged deathrock. Before the internet came along, and before the boxed set was released in 2000, these recordings were hard to come by. I had read about them, and they were a source of discussion among friends, but I never had the pleasure of hearing them before the set hit stores. The exception to that being the excellent "Archangel", which had been featured in a skate video that I'm drawing a blank on the title of now. Needless to say, I was blown away when I finally got my hands on their stuff. This is their debut, pulled directly from the boxed set.
