The Styrenes - All The Wrong People Are Dying (1982-1996)

I'm still not entirely sure I really get this release, but it's hard to deny that there's a certain power to it. As a Pagans fan, I had sought it out after hearing Mike Hudson was involved. But this is a far cry from the dirty punk assault of The Pagans. It seems Hudson's focus has shifted to writing, and here, storytelling. All The Wrong People Are Dying is, for the most part, a spoken word album. Each song is backed by instrumentation, most notably and effectively piano, but Hudson's stories steal the show. I'd still call it punk. This collection includes the entire A Monster And The Devil LP from 1989, as well as various singles and compilation tracks.
