Often lumped in with New York hardcore (they were really from New Jersey), and sharing a guitarist with Underdog, these guys were actually influenced more by the DC scene than they were their immediate surroundings. They even recorded some demos at Inner Ear. This is a great record, and one that deserves a lot more attention than it gets. After this, in a perhaps ill-advised move, they veered off into more rock - and less punk/hardcore - territory.
This is a common occurrence with me. I realized how often it was happening a while back so I make it a point to hang on to stuff for a while even if it doesn't grab me immediately these days. What's worse is when you pawn off something you bought for a reasonable price, later revisit it and love it, and then find the price has shot through the roof.
I remember having this album back in the late '80s and not really liking it. Now, of course, it sounds much better after all these years.
