An absolutely essential collection of first wave female-fronted San Francisco punk rock. They never got around to recording a full-length LP during their short tenure, but the Avengers nevertheless made a very distinct impression on things to come in the Californian music world. Although this set was originally cobbled together and released on cassette and vinyl by fledgling label CD Presents in 1983, it consists exclusively of material recorded in their late seventies heyday. Not to be missed. If you enjoy this (and I'm sure you will), note that Water Records reissued the compilation with an entire disc of bonus material just this year. As of the time of this writing, it is still available. This post includes only the fourteen tracks found on the original release.
