The Pogues - Red Roses For Me (1984)

Red Roses For Me was the first Pogues record. Despite their often repeated reputation as a punk/Irish traditional hybrid, I've always thought that that description was more than a little misleading. Really, most of their discography weighs heavily on the traditional side of things if not for MacGowan's drunken slur and occasionally less than family-friendly lyrics. That said, virtually everything they recorded is gold, and Red Roses For Me just might be, if you had to put a label on it, their most aggressive and punkish album.
