13th Floor Elevators - Through The Rhythm (1966)

Way back in November of last year I posted the 13th Floor Elevators bogus "live" album, so how about some authentic live recordings from Roky and his crew? Psychedelic Circus is a collection of live tracks recovered from tapes spanning 1966-1967, and although it's not pulled from a single performance (which I believe I've mentioned having a preference for in several previous posts), it's probably the best of these two discs. That's not to say that Through The Rhythm isn't great as well though. The latter has floated around for years in bootleg and semi-legitimate formats; it documents an Avalon Ballroom performance that dates to 1966. This version adds three Roky Erickson acoustic solo recordings. (My apologies for the lack of previews on these two posts. Couldn't locate anything specifically from these releases.)
