The No WTO Combo - Live From The Battle In Seattle (1999)

Jello Biafra, Krist Novoselic, Kim Thayil, and Gina Mainwal. A very short lived project (one night, one show) developed in protest of the WTO conference of 1999 in Seattle. I'll let Jello handle the politics, because he does just that in the chilling fifteen minute spoken word opening. It might be my favorite track. He's in great form here, firing off a pitch perfect call to action. And then there's the music: Dead Kennedys' "Let's Lynch The Landlord", two new songs written just for the occasion (both of which would later show up on Biafra's first Guantanamo School Of Medicine record), and a lyrically altered track that first appeared on Last Scream Of The Missing Neighbors with D.O.A., "Full Metal Jackoff". All of it's pretty great, and leaves me wishing they'd have played a longer and more extensive set.
