Popular opinion seems to be that The Las Vegas Story marks a significant departure from the punk blues that appeared on The Gun Club's first two LPs. I don't hear it. In fact, I prefer this record to Miami, which is, in my opinion, occasionally rambling and unfocused (although still pretty awesome). The Gun Club split for a few years after this release, reforming in 1987 for Mother Juno.
